period 1.1: inri noise rock basement demos

by inri

about

i'm uploading old pictures of myself to construct an accurate representation of what i looked like at the time that i created each of these individual projects because i'm realizing that it is something that i need to do to prevent people from making false projections or incorrect assumptions. i did realize i was transgendered when i was young, but i did not seek medical attention until 2001 and did not go into transition until 2002, then paused it over 2003 before resorting to natural hormones as a stop-gap solution from 2004 to 2009, when i went back into permanent transition.

this is the inri profile pic; it is from late 1996 or early 1997. i turned 16 in january, 1997. i was wearing a "now i'm nothing" nine inch nails overshirt. i was not exactly posing for the camera so much as i was caught off guard by it, but it is a fitting picture of me because i was a pretty demented kid. don't tell the koalas.

period 1.1 is the noise rock basement demo period and this is what i actually looked like as i was creating this music over 1996-1997.

inri was my (jessica's) childhood screen name and musical project from 1996-1999. while i explored a wide variety of musical styles in the process of finding myself and in the end emerged as the musician i am today, i was fundamentally a young blues guitarist at the time and everything is consequently rooted in hendrix/corgan guitargeekdom. the music is of the punk era. pic from late 1996. ... more
